Professor Julian White

Professor Julian White AM, MB, BS, MD, FACTM is a graduate of the University of Adelaide Medical School and has a special interest in clinical toxinology, having treated his first snakebite in 1976 and managed countless cases of toxin-induced-diseases, particularly envenoming, since then. He has been Unit Head and Clinical Toxinologist, Toxinology Dept. at the Women’s & Children’s Hospital, Adelaide since 1990. He became a Fellow of ACTM in 1992. He is the co-founder, in 1997, and Director of the Clinical Toxinology Short Course, held every 2 years (until the pandemic intervened), attracting an international faculty and attendee doctors from around the World. He is also the Director of the Clinical Toxinology Resources Website (toxinology.com) and is the Immediate Past President of the International Society on Toxinology Inc. He has authored/coauthored of hundreds of papers, textbook chapters, books, mostly on toxinology. From 2014 to 2018 he was one of the principles in the Australian Government-funded Myanmar Snakebite Project, improving outcomes for snakebite patients in Myanmar. In 2016 he was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in recognition of his contributions to toxinology, nationally and internationally.
